Italy's request as the head of the Group of 7 from Iran to help reduce tension in the region
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a letter sent to Mohammadreza Sabouri, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Rome, asked Tehran to show restraint in the context of increasing tensions in the West Asian region.
Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, has conveyed this letter to the Iranian ambassador on behalf of the Group of Seven and through the secretary general of this ministry to take the first official step in this regard.
The Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a meeting with Sabouri that took place on Saturday evening, communicated a request to Tehran to help "break the cycle of military actions that could lead to a wider and comprehensive military conflict throughout the region."
He said: "It is important for Italy that the new government of Iran, led by President Masoud Al-Badishian, and all Iranian institutions follow the path of dialogue with Europe and all countries in the region." Italy will always be ready for any political and diplomatic activity.
